Why did you join Piacente?
Investor relations originally found me, and then at a point in my life when I was questioning my career path, I found Piacente. It offered a change in IR culture, without a complete departure from the IR skills I had already honed. At Piacente I found I could leverage my IR expertise, organizational skills and writing background, while also employing creative problem-solving skills under kind mentorship. It was a great fit.

What aspect of IR do you enjoy most?
As a career IR-agency professional, I’ve encountered nearly every IR scenario over the past 20 years. I’ve worked across a variety of sectors, market caps and geographies. I’ve worked through traditional IR programs, IPOs, M&A and crisis counseling. Through it all, I tend to gravitate toward strategy and communications. I enjoy helping management teams realize and communicate their vision to the Street. Messaging plays a critical role in IR and written communication is right up my ally.
I also love a challenge, and with investor relations, there is rarely a standard or a quiet day. Unusual is the usual. IR best practices always play a key role in my approach to IR. At the same time, I am mindful that each company presents a different opportunity and each management team holds a different vision. With this comes a chance to provide fresh ideas to help shape a company’s communications and different avenues to pursue to accomplish a variety of companies’ IR goals.

What is the most important value Piacente provides to its clients?
Piacente acts as a trusted partner rather than a vendor. With an understanding of both the big picture and the smaller details, we can truly advise our clients with candor and integrity to find the right solution to any situation that arises.

What part of your background has helped you succeed in IR?
I come from a background in writing and editing, both of which I get to employ in nearly every IR scenario. My love of language and communication lies at the core of my IR foundation. Intellectual curiosity fuels the rest of the skills I’ve cultivated, providing me with a deep interest in learning about various industries, business models and financial analysis.

What do you think makes Piacente a unique place to work?
People are here to work, but they are also here to be supportive and kind. In a high-stakes, fast-paced environment, at the end of the day, it’s nice to know that Piacente provides a supportive, solution-oriented culture.
